Summary
The essential companion workbook to the bestseller The 8th Habit.

From Stephen R. Covey, bestselling author of The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness, comes the accompanying personal workbook that will help you further realize the power of this new habit. The world has changed dramatically since Covey's classic The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People was published. The challenges we all face in our relationships, families, professional lives and communities are of an entirely new order of magnitude. In order to thrive in what Covey calls the new Knowledge Worker Age, we need to build on and move beyond effectiveness—to greatness. Accessing the higher reaches of human genius and motivation in today's reality requires a whole new habit.

The questionnaires, tests, self-assessments, and other exercises in this workbook provide a hands-on approach to developing the mind-set, skill-set and tool-set for achieving greatness in the Knowledge Worker Age. The 8th Habit will transform the way you think about yourself and your purpose in life, about your organization and about humankind.

I began listening to this book in a state of aimless wandering, lacking purpose and passion in life and work. The teachings and insights have been nothing short of inspiring for the mind, body and spirit. Truly glad I decided to listen.

I thought that Covey's book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People was superb and a great listen. Unfortunately, to me this new book The 8th Habit doesn't come close. Covey's style of reading makes the particular book hard to listen to as drones on with his monotone voice to the point of boredom. In addition, the content of the book didn't offer me anything that I didn't already know. I was disappointed in this book, but still thank Covey for the first one in which the 7 habits are covered.

Having heard such glowing reviews of Steve Covey and the 7 habits, it was with great expectation that I started to listen to the 8th habit audio. I was very dissapointed. There was a sense of artificialness about it - with little sense of focus. Would not recommend this one.

Always great!! Love this! Everyone needs to read these "habit" books - you always take something home with you...

I enjoyed hearing this book, but thought that in order to be truly meaningful it needs to be read as a book in lieu of listened to as an audio book. It is impossible to really stop wherever you are and slide in a video. I generally listen to books while driving, so I could not reasonably stop the book and watch the video. I did enjoy it enough to be seriously considering buying the book so that I could read it as the author originally intended.

This has been the best audiobook so far. The dvd that goes with it really hits home. In fact I would like to buy this program....I'm not going to send this back. I can see real value here. This needs to be used every 4 months to remember all this.

This book was a little more lengthly than I would have liked. The couple of disks were a waste of time and almost caused me to stop listening. The additional videos were unnecessary. I listen while commuting and was not about to stop listening so that I could watch a video. Although containing good concepts the book seemed to be a rambling of various learned discoveries by the author. I would have like a more succinctly organized presentation.

What a differt world we would live in if all these principles were lived by and all of us "found our voice" and helped others to do the same. I found this and the "7 Habits" book to be very enlightening into human behavior and was at the same time very challenged by both of them. I will never look at conflict and challenges in my personal or business life the same again. Having a "win-win" philosophy is so much better than win-lose or lose-win that are so traditional in corporate America. I found the both books lengthy but they still held my interest all the way through

I truly enjoyed this book both on tape and in print. We are reading it in our Supervisor team at work and I requested in on tape in order to make it easier to complete the "reading". Stephen Covey has some great ideas to help both yourself and others "find their voice". I recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their worth in addition to those who are in a formal leadership position over others.

Although I was hoping that I would get something out of being able to listen to this marvelous book while commuting to and from work, I found that this type of book is better for me when I read it. I'm looking forward to picking up a copy to read soon.

This is one of those transformational books, a must read. As a small business owner my top 5 picks would be: 1. The Bible 2. The E-Myth 3. The 7 Habits 4. The 8th Habit 5. First Break all the Rules I guarantee that each one of these will change your life...

7 Habits is a must to read first but my biggest disappointment was there is a DVD that comes with the book that isn't provided until the 3rd set of CDs. You are supposed to watch it throughout, once per chapter.

I felt I was being lectured to rather than read to. Since I couldn't get past that thought, I had no interet in finishing it.

Its good but it takes too long to get the point. When it takes 5 times as long as it takes to hear about the first 7 habits, the 8th may not be worth hearing about. Parts are inspiring though if you have the patience for 13 CDs.

In this follow-up to the popular 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Steven Covey goes on giving practical illustrations of how to go beyond effective to greatness. The ideas he puts forth are true for organizations as well as individuals. Listen to the 7 Habits first, though, as Covey refers to them in this book.

This was a great book. In the Rental I was unable to view the movies that accompanied the CDs, and that would have brought all of the theories together. But otherwise, this was great listening. I have actually shared several concepts with my TEAM.

for those who embody servant leadership, this is a must read. Stephen Covey covered all bases in laying out a detailed road map to gaining outstanding perspective on how to find and understand your inner voice, and inspiring others to do the same. The bonus video clips just adds the icing on this..... it's lengthy, but worth every minute.

If you've listened to or read other Covey books, this feels like more of the same. Although there's some great content here that most people need to hear, there's nothing new in the book that hasn't already been presented in a different form in 7 Habits, Principle Centered Leadership, First Things First, etc. By the last batch of CDs, I found myself listening to NPR rather than finishing the book.

I'd suggest making the abridged version available to rent. It was good info, but does ramble on (and on and on). I suspect the abridged version is just the right amount of information.

This series had a good beginning and then got tiresome for the remainder. The first part where Covey explained his theme for the book was very good and was very interesting, but then it was just going over and over the stated theme. Just listen to the first two disks and you have the gist.

Covey at his best. Made me go and buy the BOOK Suggest that you tackle 7 Habits first to get full value of 8th.

Chapter 14 was my favorite as I waited for the anytime moment of when Covey was going to clear his throat. I sat there finding myself clearing my own as I thought maybe it would help the situation. Nevertheless, I would tend to agree that things become very drawn out at times and that a point is stated over and over. I do thank Covey and his team for writing it as no matter what you will be able to come away with something from it and will be able to make improvements in your life. It parallels the 7 Habits quite a bit and part of me thought well let's create an 8th so that we can capitlize on the people who will buy or rent it. I'm waiting for the 9th to come out titled, "The 9th habit; "The one I didn't tell you about in the other 8."

Seemed like Stephen Covey just rambled on and on and on. It was just about impossible to keep my attention. I liked the DVD that was included in the last set.
