We all know Chicago to be the murder Capitol, hence the nickname Chi-raq. Alex detailed one summer in Chicago, the deaths, the fear, the uncertainty, the survival of the fittest if you will..... the novel is thought provoking. Like why does people still live there, why are the still abiding by the street code? Why must parents ensure they have and pay for life insurance policies for their children before other bills? This is no way to live. The innocence is taking away from children and being at the wrong place at the wrong time happens way too often to even be at saying/quote. This book made me cry, made me angry, and feel sad for the people of Chicago. The mothers/fathers who have to bury their children, the children who see their friends/family members gunned down, and the "policing" and excuses that's given. This book is a must read, but ne aware it's not for the faint at heart. #Book10of2022 #bookworm #whatsnext
