This sounds like an early koontz book and was thefore a bit washy , but the real damage was as an audio book having two readers , really didn’t work will make sure I check things out better before I buy again , just by the author

I really liked this book. I was enthralled from beginning to end. Some of the plot was weird at times, but it was interesting. There were times that I was verbally aghast. Good read!

Great book..solid plot and conclusive ending....Koontz could have/should have left the small sci fi / alien twist out of it...distracted from primary plot...only reason I didn't give it a 5.

The problem with Dean Koontz novels is that they are so hit or miss when it comes to writing style and holding interest, not to mention character development. This book was a total miss. Overall it followed the usual Koontz formula of disgusting description designed to make you dislike a character although there's no real basis, repetitive epiphany (often shared) that there is a god, horrific creature(s) created by man and therefore doomed, and characters with disabilities that make them better than anyone else in the book, thus angels. Unfortunately, there was no redeeming, interesting character to pull you in, the gory descriptions were over the top, and the verbal exposition was heavy-handed to the point of parody. I kept going to find out the WHY of it all and was fairly disappointed. There are much better written Koontz books to try, give this one a skip.

This is a very interesting book, typical Dean Koontz, He is a lot like Stephen King, keep you amazed at the things he comes up with. This book gives you a whole new outlook on Downs Syndrome; at least it did for me.

This was my first introduction to Koontz, an alumni of where I teach. I found him a bit too intense for me.

The book keeps you wanting more. Keeps you trying to figure out which way it is going. Excellent from start to finish. Loved it.

This book was a bit over the top with the sexual weirdness as well as other very bizarre characters. Could have done with fewer gross and disgusting graphics. I kept listening because I eventually came to like the two main characters; at first I found them to be a bit "out there" too and quite different from most fictional characters with whom I can identify. It kept my interest but I've heard much better.

I REALLY LOVED THIS STORY. IT HAD EVERY THING IN IT. YOU CAN TELL THAT IS WAS WRITTEN IN THE 90'S BECAUSE NOBODY HAD A CELL PHONE WHEN THEY NEEDED IT, HAHA, BUT I REALLY LOVED IT.

Good listen. Interesting with two very good narrators, one male, one female. Kind of takes a while to get the story rolling and is pretty fantasically unbelieveable. Other than that, I enjoyed it. Starting to become dated as a few scenes would have neccessitated a cell phone and the absence of one really dated the story.

Although there is some seriously weird things happening in this story, I still liked it a lot. There is always something just a bit supernatural in Koontz's books, but this one was filled with them! It was hard to get out of the car at times. I enjoyed every strange minute of it.

Koontz can be really out there and he doesn't disappoint. You certainly wouldn’t want to meet up with the antagonists in this story line. Another book where I found myself looking forward to the two hour commute. One thing Koontz is really good at is holding your attention and providing a great ending.

Oh, my God! I love Dean Koontz. Nothing keeps me driving like he does. I don't know what I would do without him with me on my commute. This book was so intense at times. A couple of sad parts, but I like the fact that good always prevails! Have fun with this book!!

Like most of Dean Koontz's book, this one was a great read! It is suspensful and wellworth my time...but it did start out slow and a little confusing, but once the pieces came together you didn't want to stop hearing this story play out.

Dean Koontz is the master of suspense! This was one of the most intrigueing books I have ever heard(read)! I shudder at the thought of the characters in this book. If Candy were a real person, I would be afraid to leave my house. An all around good book!

This was a wonderful read. Kept my interest so much I didn't want to stop to go into work. It had so many twists in it I couldn't help but be enthralled! Kudos to Koontz!

I loved this novel. It keeps you so interested that you just have to continue to listen to more. This is the first Koontz novel I have listened to. I will definately listen to the rest of his works.

My only issue with this book was the submissiveness of the two lead characters. I think they should have stood up for themselves in the story long before they did. Overall, it's a good read.

Started out slow..and really strange...but slowly it starts to get better with the usual Dean Koontz oddness and twists.

Started slow and a little hard to follow in the beginning but worth every second. This story was out of the norm. The plot was completely unpredictable, not the everyday, run of the mill story line. Each chapter was a new and interesting nail bitter. Rather than end my commute I would have preferred to sit in the car and listen to the CD. Excellent…

Let me say this first, I am a BIG Dean Koontz fan. After hearing Strange Highways read by James Spader most other readers fall short by far. (Strange Highways is the best read book I have ever heard). The Bad Place is no exception. Droll reading coupled with iffy plotting makes for a less than so-so audiobook. Listen only if you are a Koontz fan and if haven't already listen to Odd Thomas check it out immediately because it is his second best behind Strange Highways. Yes, I am an Audiobook Junkie.

Wow, ultra slow book. I am a audio book junkie and this one made me want to watch TV. It took forever to get going. I'd pass this one by unless you have already listened to every other book out there.

It was a bit difficult getting in to this at first, but by the time I got to disk 3, I was hooked. Very good story. Very typical Dean Koontz style. Definitely some interesting takes on some ideas.

This is one of the few strories I think would have been better abridged. I didn't like the reading either. The two reader concept rarely works for me. Having two different voices for the same character is not a good idea and they didn't do a great job on the voices anyway. I've heard better from Dean Koontz and would not recommend this book.

Gripping story. Like all of Koontz's books, slightly overwritten and wordy, but the characters hold your interest on a long drive.

This book kept me in my car! I would have liked a happier ending though but it was a great read.

I found this to be an interesting story with great, expressive readers. I've not read much Koontz but found him to be very imaginative. Engaging characters and though the plot was a little weaker than others, the backstory surrounding the main characters made up for it. Recommended for those that don't mind a healthy mix of sci-fi or the paranormal in their stories.
