This had a very interesting theme. A look at the internet and its impact on our culture. A lot of food for thought. It was cleverly written.
That said, the perspective of the author was very political & very culture specific. He has one adverb & adjective: f___. Used constantly & consistently throught all scenes & all characters, it illustrated a generation & perspective that was very specific. Obviously Hank was comfortable with that expression. I was not. My personal opinion. I'm from a different generation & as I listened to this story I found myself far more interested in the perspective of this group of people than the actual story he was telling. Usually when I read something by someone whose ideas differ from mine, I think it would be worthwhile to sit & have a conversation. Talk about our different perspectives. I didn't get the impression Mr Green would welcome that discussion. Too bad.
very cleverly written
I loved the different perspectives and all the different narrators for each. Every narrator did and incredible job and hank wrote an amazing book
This is undoubtedly a Hank Green novel. Though there were multiple character perspectives, I heard Green’s voice in all of them (and not just in Andy, who Green actually voiced in this). Though I wouldn’t say it’s always bad to hear an author speak through their characters, there were moments it got quite preachy. Overall, it’s a good story, just know you’re signing up for a lot of commentary on social media and society.
