Summary
He would sell his warrior soul to possess her. . . .

An alluring laird...

He was known throughout the kingdom as Hawk, legendary predator of the battlefield and the boudoir. No woman could refuse his touch, but no woman ever stirred his heart—until a vengeful fairy tumbled Adrienne de Simone out of modern-day Seattle and into medieval Scotland. Captive in a century not her own, entirely too bold, too outspoken, she was an irresistible challenge to the sixteenth-century rogue. Coerced into a marriage with Hawk, Adrienne vowed to keep him at arm's length—but his sweet seduction played havoc with her resolve.

A prisoner in time...

She had a perfect 'no' on her perfect lips for the notorious laird, but Hawk swore she would whisper his name with desire, begging for the passion he longed to ignite within her. Not even the barriers of time and space would keep him from winning her love. Despite her uncertainty about following the promptings of her own passionate heart, Adrienne's reservations were no match for Hawk's determination to keep her by his side. . . .

The series was suggested to me by a friend who knows I like history, fantasy, and romance. While it has promise, there are too many inconsistencies to be taken as anything other than a romance novel.

While I really enjoyed her other Highlander books, this one did not do it for me. As a fact even though it is the first one of the series, had I listened to it first, I would not have bothered with the other ones. The female character was not only unlikable, whiny, self-centered and bitchy, but also her back-ground story was badly plotted out - an orphaned fugitive from the law, who lives in a big house with a house keeper living above the garage and a virgin after having been engaged to a no-good criminal. Not very likely. The male main characters were great. Hawk, Grim and Adam Black, and the twisted revenge game was really good. Hawk was a bit too saintly and I enjoyed hearing about the more sinister side of Adam Black, for whom I held a torch after listening to the Immortal Highlander. Phil Gigante was a great reader as always.

I think I should preface this review by saying, I hate historical romances. The reason I’ve taken so long to read Beyond the Highland Mist, despite the great reviews, is the fact that I was afraid it would read like a historical romance. Well, that was not the case here. I absolutely loved this book. What a fantastic and magical story. At first, I wasn’t so sure I’d like it, but it didn’t take me long to get drawn right into this novel. Karen Marie Moning did an amazing job telling this story. It is beautifully written without being boring. One of the reasons I hate historicals is because the author often takes so much time describing things like clothing, hair and surroundings that I find it often lacks in plot or characters. I love the way KMM made me feel like I was in the sixteenth century without blathering on about insignificant details. She gave details only where they were needed to tell the story. Instead, she focused more on the characters. And I loved them all. Hawk was awesome—deliciously arrogant, but insecure at the same time. With an outrageous playboy reputation, I hadn’t expected him to be as sensitive and caring as he was. He was a warrior and a man’s man, but still hand crafted a nursery for the child he dreamed of having one day *swoon*. He was also smart, brave, and cunning, a mere mortal man willing to face an immortal Fae. In short, he really was the perfect hero. Adrienne was stubborn. Sometimes I would get a bit frustrated with her lack of trust with men, but the author built a good back story so I understood her motivations and forgave her. She was also smart and I really enjoyed her and Hawks interactions. There were parts of this book that had me laughing at loud, parts that had me choking up and getting teary eyed, times I wanted to strangle someone and times where I let out a happy sigh. Overall, I enjoyed it and definitely recommend this to readers who like their romance with a touch of magic.

Beyond the Highland Mist, it is a first Highland series. This story has it all. fantastic combination of romance, drama and humor. It was a great Historical moments I loved. The hero "Hawk" is describing as a beautiful man". He is a perfect hero in every ways a woman could dream of. However, the heroine, Adrienne hates beautiful man. She is from modern day who one day flung back in time and force to marry Hawk. Throughout the story, Adrienne tries to hurt Hawk's feelings. At last, Adrianne loves Hawk; in spite the hatred men who are beautiful. As they say; Don't judge a book by its cover.
