Unabridged Audiobook
Being a history fan I really enjoyed the dueling perspective of this story. Well researched in my opinion.
The worst most boring audio book I've ever heard. The narrator makes this book worse. Dp yourself a favor. Get a different audio book
WOW! I grew up in Kentucky and was in college when Drew Thornton died (was killed?) Although I knew of the drug activity from the Courier Journal and Herald Leader as well as local TV news, I had no idea what was going on until “reading” this book. I have owned the physical book for probably 30 years and at one point worked for someone mentioned in the book. Honestly, I now have many more questions than answers and most if not all the players have taken secrets to their graves. It is probably an easier read if you know the names, places and events, however there is so much detail and minutia it was still challenging at times even with knowledge of Kentucky at the time. If you were alive then, have interest in how drugs came into the country in the 70s and 80s, interest in Kentucky and national politics, interest in the ‘war on drugs’, interested in CIA, FBI, Homeland Security, State Police, Local Police, Judiciary, Prosecutors, espionage, corruption, conspiracy theories, I think you will consider it interesting ……… Upsetting? Maybe ………. Surprising? Maybe………. Crazy? Maybe. All I can say is, it confirms to me that TRUTH is stranger than fiction.
Great book on a great story that occurred in yet another Southern state during what came to be known as Iran-Contra. Very thoroughly researched.
