Unabridged Audiobook
Counterterrorism expert Richard A. Clarke's 2nd fictional thriller provides a chilling wake-up call. This guy knows what he is talking about when it comes to our nation's vulnerabilities to rouge terrorists, and exactly what these weaknesses entail will surely surprise even the most savvy reader/listener. As a relatively new author of fiction, Clarke needs some practice with dialogue and character development, but the fast-paced plot and the factual information he provides about national security more than makes up for any awkwardness as he hones his artistic skill.
Move over, Michael Crichton, there's a new kid in town. This is former Whitehouse counterterrorism czar, and current Chairman of Good Harbor Consulting 2nd foray into the realm of fiction. What I appreciate most in both books is the points he makes that are relevant today - or "truth through fiction", as he likes to call it. Like Crichton, much of the technical facts in this book are involving bleeding edge technology of the day. I actually enjoyed this book more than "The Scorpion's Gate". As an added bonus, the last 3 tracks of disc 7 - his "Author's Note", goes into detail about some of the technical jargon he wrote about, how it relates to current technology / events. While I would prefer that he write more non-fiction, I do look forward to his 3rd work of fiction.
