Summary
A disturbing package leads Detective Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin Ellacott to investigate four dangerous murder suspects in this "magnetic" British mystery (Michiko Kakutani, New York Times) that inspired the acclaimed HBO Max series C.B. Strike.    When Robin Ellacott opens an unexpected delivery, she is horrified to discover that it contains a woman's severed leg. Her boss, private detective Cormoran Strike, is less surprised but just as alarmed. He suspects that four people from his past could be responsible -- and any one of them is capable of sustained and unspeakable brutality. With the police focusing on the one suspect Strike has essentially ruled out, he and Robin take matters into their own hands and delve into the dark and twisted worlds of the other three men. But as more horrendous acts occur, time is running out for the two of them . . . Career of Evil is the third in J. K. Rowling's highly acclaimed series featuring private detective Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin Ellacott. A fiendishly clever mystery with unexpected twists around every corner, Career of Evil is also a gripping story of a man and a woman at a crossroads in their personal and professional lives.

J.K. Rowlings really knows how to write. I love this series written under a pseudonym. I’m on the last book. Like Harry Potter I don’t want it to end.

I love this series and check constantly for updates on when a new book will be published. Main characters are fantastic and well developed. Story is always full of twists and turns. The narrator is just right for these books.

Books, at least the first three, are too long. Great stories, well presented but sometimes I want to skip forward to cut out some of the fluff. “Michener without the Florian and Fauna. Harry Potter left me going back and re-reading at least the last Chapters because I didn’t want it to end.

So far this one has been my favorite. Trigger Warning though; rape content. Which I usually don't like in my books nor movies. But it passes the details enough to handle, and the story, twist and characters are really good and just keep developing better and better in this series. Looking forward to next book. Love this narrator also.

have loved j. k . rowling's new series from the very first one. the characters are well-developed, and the storylines robust and captivating. but the crowning glory is the narration. robert glenister's skills are EVERYTHING. the ease with which he moves between such accurate regional accents is amazing, and adds such color to the listening experience. can't wait for the fourth installment!

This was my favorite book of the series. I love the character development and all the twists and turns of the story. Robert Glenister is my favorite narrator to listen to with his many different characters.

Very enjoyable story, kept you wondering. Perhaps a bit too much narrative that did little to carry story forward.

The book was intriguing, too gory and the language was f-* every other word. It got really old and made me wonder if the author had just run out of good vocabulary to be repeating the same word over and over. I won't read another one of these books

I enjoy this series for the detail and grittiness of the characters and story. This book was too menacing for me too. I liked the previous books since the murderer was not so evil. I love the growing relationship between Strike and his assistant. Plus, the mystery is very well done and keeps you guessing throughout. I too loved the ending and the twists in the book as well. The narrator is excellent too and his choice of voices for the characters is very believeable.

Great read. Enjoyed visiting with these characters again. Can't wait for the next one. JR Rawlings really knows how the craft a story , wethers it's the Harry Potter series or this new hero. I understand she thinking of a series on Harry potters children, can't wait. I introduce so many of my friends

Convoluted plot but gripping and very real characters. The seamy side of London and a convincing portrayal of a serial murderer. The narration was problematic. I think because of the recording. Too fast and staccato and repetitive phrasing which grated after a while.

This is very suspenseful... quite scary in parts and much more menacing ( for me) that the other two books. I'm always sensitive about extreme violence towards women and this books has loads of it. while that was hard to take, i do love the main characters and the worlds of these books. BTW - i love, love Robert Glenister as a narrator.

Gripping. I am obsessed with the characters in this series. Narration so well done I forget it's one person. I feel like I'm in the room with them, or putting the kettle on and all I want is for Robin and Strike to finally get together. I'll stop there. This book could not have ended any other way. I was a mess for a couple chapters..I admit it. Well done.
