Summary
The average Christian in America does not know what his own religion teaches, nor does he care. He may call himself “Christian,” but he lives his life exactly as he wishes, making no attempt to conform his conduct to the commands and tenets of his religion.

Daily Wire writer Matt Walsh confronts his fellow Christians in this bold, clear-eyed book that serves as an urgent reminder of Matthew 7:13 — 'For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.'

Matt Walsh seems to be a "boots on the ground" conservative/christian/logic seeker, especially since I'm writing this review post-Dr. Phil segment where Walsh debated transgenderism. That debate was incredible, Walsh did a fantastic job of getting to the meat of the transgender issues and the veiled threats it poses. I thought the book would be more precise and applicable, addressing broader issues. It was not. I am the daughter of a pastor, grew up homeschooled in Texas, have a lot of brothers and sisters. You can't get much more Bible thumping than how I was raised (unless my parents had made us all wear jean skirts, which, thank God, they didn't). I understand exactly where Walsh is coming from. However, as I am now in my 30s with children, I have seen that ideology without logic, reasoning and applicability is just hot air and legalism. That's all this book is. Hot air and legalism. This entire book is how me and my family would complain about the state of Christians in America at Thanksgiving. All talk, no solution. Walsh gave no examples of how to apply anything of the scriptures he was quoting, except when he gave direct advice that public schools have degenerated so far it would be better to homeschool or private school. That is great applicable advice. No where else in the book is there any concrete, day-in-day-out suggestions, advice, arguments on how we should actually live our lives. For example, Walsh points out towards the end of the book how families are just absolutely disintegrating in America. Correct, completely agree. All he adds is "well, don't blow up your family like everyone else" (obviously not a direct quote). That kind of "advice" is not helpful. He didn't even recommend books or reasonable practices to keep your family together. This is lazy writing. This is the exact kind of trivial Christianity I would have applauded, and even written myself, in my early 20s. Calling out "sins" in others and ourselves is a biblical principle, which this book attempts to do. But Walsh gives no alternatives. If this logic worked on us mortal beings all we would have to do is yell at an alcoholic long enough to stop and they would. There has to be a solution, not just a condemnation.

I found it very to the point and pretty clear. I even like Matt found myself in several of his depictions. The church needs to hear the things he is speaking if anything it could be used as reference to help us to help others and also to check our hearts and behavior. It was refreshing Matt I like your style I,m one that is an intravert (spell) I,m asking God to help me to overcome this but realize I need to give the Holy Spirit more control . . . pray for me Matt Thanks again for a good book. it will become part of my library. God Bless and keep on moving you in ways that please Him A sister in Christ.
