Summary
Love is a mortal sin, and the secrets of the past are deadly. Plunge into the third installment novel in the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series and “prepare to be hooked” (Entertainment Weekly)—now with a gorgeous new cover, a map, a new foreword, and exclusive bonus content! City of Glass is a Shadowhunters novel.

To save her mother’s life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters—never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.

As Clary uncovers more about her family’s past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadowhunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadowhunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he’s willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City—whatever the cost?

Now I get the hype. At first, I really didn’t understand why people love this series so much. After I read the first book, I thought the characters were way too immature and it annoyed me. I only read the second after I saw, and enjoyed, the movie. After I finished book two I really started to get into the story. Now I’m officially hooked. I love a series where characters grow and change, and in the Mortal Instruments they definitely do. Simon and Clary especially do some maturing over the course of the three books I’ve read. Part of that probably has to do with the fact that they are thrust into a dangerous world where their lives are in peril more than once. Life or death situations tend to give a character a lifetime of growth in a very short time. Add to that the fact that Simon was transformed into a vampire, and things have definitely changed. What I mostly loved in the third book, though: Jace and Clary. Finally, we get some closure to their situation—and I was really happy with how things were resolved. It was a nail biter there for a while, but I made it through. I love Jace and Clary together and I’m glad things worked out the way they did. Now I can’t wait to get into the next book.

I am really enjoying this series. I hate to say anything negative, but......the only issue I am having is, once I start a multiple book series, the voices I hear in the first book I associate with the characters. It is very difficult when the read changes each book. It's like getting to know the characters all over again. The book in the series I'm on now, is a different reader every chapter. I hope this helps for future series, I really do enjoy the story line and the character development.

This series was suggested to me after I read all the Sookie Stackhouse books. It was NOT a dissappointment and a wonderful read, esp. for tween readers!! Hopefully they will make a movie on this, it would be fantastic on the big screen!
