This is an amazing book a great story and the narrator is one of the most amazing and entertaining I have ever heard

Dumas' classic tale of revenge & retribution has spawned many adaptations, so the unabridged original is great to go back to. This narration is as good as any I have heard of any book. I lost count of the voices he employed; it may be as many as 30, all of which fit the character portrayed like a glove. In other words, this is a professional-grade rendition and so a great treat. I can say this with confidence as I previously read the unabridged version, and viewed the movie adaptations with Richard Chamberlain from 1977 and more recently, Jim Cavizel. Both highly recommended.

Wow, just brilliant. The book was amazing as was the narrator. His accents were spot on. Although it was nearly 60 hours long I would definitely listen to it again.

Absolutely top notch. This is one of the best stories I have ever read; I don't know how I haven't heard if it before. And the reader was spectacular. I am surprised an audiobook of this quality and length is free to listen to.

Can't recommend this enough! great story excellent narration. Actually had me in floods of tears at one point. Am very greatful to the narrator for undertaking this epic title. and making it more accessible to a dyslexic like me. (would have taken me years to read it by myself)

It took a bit of time to settle into the story. There are a lot of characters to get used to. Clarke’s narration is excellent. This was on my summer reading list for my freshman year at college it only took me 50 years to get to it. Glad I finally did..

This was quite a lengthy book and sometimes the twists and turns got me thinking "where is this even going?" But the story is gripping from start to finish and the narrator is fantastic

Fantastic in every way! A remarkable tale of revenge, and a work of genius by Alexander Dumas that involves sailors, smugglers, prisoners, treasures, aristocrats at the opera, a festival at the guillotine, thieves, duels, lovers, and the politics of Napoleon vs. Louis 18th. I lived with this long tale for two months and didn't want it to end. High praise too for the spectacular narrator who gets it so right! Comfortable with several languages, and a master of consistent accents and voices, this is unquestionably the best LibraVox recording I ever heard. I wish they were all this good!

the narrator was absolutely fantastic, probably the most fitting for this book. although it's a long one, it's worth the listen. or at least of the first third. the 2nd third was a little slow, and then ending was definitely interesting. good book

EXCELLENT!! Legendary book - Arabian nights meets three musketeers meets Agatha Christie… one of the greatest books ever! And the narrator was PHENOMENAL!! I didn’t think I could love this book more, but I do!! It’s my all time favorite audio book and was already one of my favorite reads! Honestly I thought it would feel familiar and good to listen to it, but it actually became an entirely new beautiful work of art to me! And free?! It’s beautiful

Story was great, all 54 hours. The Heroines were, sadly, not very independent women but I guess that was a sign of the times when the book was written. The narrator was spectacular, shifting accents, tone, and style with each of the many characters. Thank you to David Clark!

This is the kind of book which makes you involuntary selfish and makes you keep it hidden from others so that they won’t experience the same happiness and joy which you experienced. But here I am blessing the mankind. Also the narrator is one of the best.

Can’t praise this highly enough. I read this about 20 years ago and loved it but just don’t have the time to devote to reading as much now. I was thrilled to get such an excellent narrator. I just wish he read more books by Dumas!

The book is very long and has a lot of threads to follow- I admit at times I got confused because a character appeared in a different context than I expected. The story is very interesting and the pace picks up significantly once all the threads start coming together. The narrator's voice was wonderful. He changes accent and intonation during conversations according to character, which makes them much easier to follow.

Maybe I was spoiled listening to the Ken Follet books narrator who was absolutely amazing, but I just couldn’t get into this guy. Also the audio sounded distant/echoey like he recorded it in his bedroom on an iPhone. This review is only for the narrator as I didn’t get through the book, so I just dropped in three stars for the book.

One of the most captivating audio books that I have ever listened to. Alexandre Dumas is so adept at setting the scenes, the story plays out in one's mind like a movie. David Clarke adds to the enjoyment with his narration that is second to none. I wish he would do more. Loved it.

I absolutely love this book and nearly bought the audible version until I listened to this one. If you haven’t heard the story, this is a must. If you have, this is a great way to live through this amazing story again. I just wish I could wipe my brain and listen to it again for the first time.

This is the kind of book 5 star reviews should be saved for. A philosopher, bestowed upon a man who's life carried great influence in history. Has written down a tale of guidance and advices, which through providence have been saved by time to be passed down and may be read by any. Offered freely in today's world and read with a gusto, dedication and determination that honours the writer and the listener alike. Bravo.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this narrated version. I read some 28 years ago on recommendation by Richard Lester who got me off my reading the Russian and exsitential literature, onto these french classics. Having said this, the sociological, psychological, political, and beleive it or not technological insights in this book are absolutely fascinating. First case of hacking. I mean the windmill scene is a laugh. Change the message between Marseille and Paris between the windmillers, and lose a persons fortune upon false information
