WARNING: listen to the sample before purchasing! The narration is horrible, it sounds like it was AI generated. It says in the credits that it was narrated by the actress who does the voice of the main character, but only the dialogue sounds natural. The narration is flat and just sounds wrong. I almost quit listening after the first three minutes. But I like Elise Kova‘s books and I really wanted to read this book so I continued. It’s sort of like walking into a room with a bad odor, it’s almost unbearable at first, but then you get acclimated to it. But it’s especially terrible during the emotional and romantic scenes. I am shocked and disappointed because I’ve always found Graphic Audio books to be awesome. This is the first time I’ve experienced such low quality from them. Thankfully I got this as a VIP book so it was free. If I had paid for it, I would be asking for my money back.
As for the story, it’s pretty good, although I predicted the “twist” at the end about a third of the way into the book. So it’s fairly predictable, but that’s OK, it was still a fun story.
