Unabridged Audiobook
Gillian Flynn scares me, her way of describing murders and crimes, wooo! Ben was in prison for killing his mother and sisters, but did he? Libby was the only one who survived the killings. He was a 15 year old boy who fell in love with the wrong girl. He got an older girl Deondra pregnant, an advanced manipulator. Deondra, satan herself......she even birth a junior satan crystal and while Ben rotted in prison. Why Ben protected her, I don't know. I mean she killed his family, along with some man(Calvin Deal), who was that man. He watched her kill his sister, whew....... I guess he had a heart because he let his baby sister Libby go. Libby years later, went to see her brother after a murder club contacted her about her brothers innocence. Afterwards she realized her brother was innocent and went to find the real killers. In looking, she ended up running for her life......This book would make a good movie. Damn Deondra, would Libby and Ben get a second chance at life or will it be stolen from them again? #Book15of2020 #whatsnext #bookworm #highlyrecommended
I have fallen in love with Gillian Flynn's writing, each book just as good or even better than the first I read.
I was very happy with this book. Voice actors were great. I enjoyed it from start to finish and had a hard time stopping and going to sleep.
Not a fan. Agree with others who felt it dragged and then very abrupt wrap it all up ending. Very graphic - a bit over the top for me.
I really like her style of written narrator was good for this type of book liked all the twists
This book is very emotional. The best who don-it I have listened to in a while.
The story was interesting but at some points got really dragged out. Then again the ending came in fast and the story ended quite abruptly.
This book is great!! I didn’t want to turn it off it was so good!
Another banger by Gillian Flynn. Must read.
Slow start... but worth the investment! Satisfying ending.
Overall, the book was good. A little slow in the beginning, but definitely unpredictable. Narration was good.
Wow. Super disappointed. Tried so hard to get into this audio book. I am a huge fan of murder mysteries, and audio books, and slow burn stories. I don’t know if it was the story, or Libby, or her character’s narrator, but this was painful and boring. Perhaps it was Libby’s character lacking any character at all. I would recommend many other audio books over this one. Perhaps much better if reading the book itself. I’ve listened to 50 murder mystery audio books and have read 50 burger mystery books in the last 3-4 years.. never have I experienced this type of frustration! Maybe you all will have a better experience than I did!
I love Gillian Flynn's books. This is the 3rd I have listened to and it is great.
Another great book by Gillian Flynn. You either love her or hate her .
This was a great book, however the narrators were hard to hear. Very low tones.
The book was great!
Love Gillian Flynn's writing and storytelling. This was my least favorite of her 3 novels but still totally engrossing and well-written. The main narrator (there were 3, all good) had a fabulous voice. Great listen.
Very engaging, and thrilling near the end. Great narration. Suggest readers/listeners over age 18 because it is graphic in both violence and sexual topics.
The narration on this book is fantastic. It has different voices for different characters but not overwhelmingly so; wonderful job. The book itself was great too. I love Gillian Flynn's style. Such a dark, dramatic story that builds up so nicely. It didn't pull me in as much as Sharp Objects did, but it was great to listen to over the course of a few weeks while driving to/from work.
This was an amazing book; I enjoyed every minute of it. Very well written, the narration was great. I love that I could get into each character and their side of the story. I would highly recommend this book.
I really love this book. I'm listening to the audiobook for the second time. It's really dark and weird. Way better than the movie, imo.
I couldn't get into this book at all. The main character is such a drag. I tried for a bit but eventually got bored and put it down.
This was a book chosen for my book club and it is by far my favorite! The narrators did a great job! I would definitely recommend this. 5 stars!
Very good narrating, I usually don't like them because it doesn't match the characters but I was wrong. Very engaging story as well.
It was well-written, but the ending was a little obvious to me. Also, a couple parts were a little too demonic for me. I felt she went into unnecessary detail for certain scenes and some just drug out.
Probably the most suspensful and satisfying book I have ever read. AMAZING!!
This book was so good! I definetly would recommend this to anyone who loves a good mystery.
Love Flynn's observations about people. She's so spot on. I thought this book was a wonderful company on my cross country road trip.
Excellent! It really kept me going on our 22 hour drive to Florida. Narrators were very good.
Loved this book. Kept me wondering & excellenct narration!!
This book will keep you on edge! It's pretty good.
Excelente novel and remarkable set of narrators . Gripping story that makes you change what you think you know several times
Listening or reading these books is almost like a guilty pleasure. Very dark and a bit much for me at times how descriptive she paints each character or their thoughts but still can't put it down. I love the style of writing and getting a glimpse into each of the characters minds changing from past to present. Especially love the emotions from the narrator; pulls me in every time. Phenomenal how even when I press pause or have to stop I find myself trying to figure out the clues throughout my day! That's when you know you have a great book! Wish there was another mystery styled (less graphic) book coming soon!
Great book. First audio book. Really enjoyed the dark atmosphere and story writings.
I did not like the depression. It just seemed so draggy that I just stuck with it.
I love the details. Flynn holds my attention for the entire book. .. again! Hope she releases something new soon. Pleasant narrator.
I took a chance on this book , having read "Gone Girl" - which I did not enjoy. Friends recommended this title as a better choice. Regardless, I found it to be drawn out and contrived. Initially, I was curious about the siblings, Ben and Libby, but eventually. I just wanted to be done with the book. Clearly, I am not a Gillian Flynn fan.
I really enjoyed this book. I'm a solid Gillian Flynn fan now.
Amazing book from beginning to end. Kept me under suspense throughout the entire book.
A very good listen, although at times, it was a bit hard for me to stomach some of the details, but that is what made for such a good point. In typical Flynn style, the suspense was certainly not lacking!
a book that gripped me that I felt lost when it finished. Looking forward to more stories from the author.
Such a depressing but well-written story. The characters were well developed and the multiple narrators' slow drawl represented the depressing mood of the whole book very well. Inadvertently it's also an inside story about the way depressed people feel inside and their daily struggle to survive daily tasks that seem so easy
Love it love it love it! Perfect book! So far soooo good!! The narrator is great!
They need to make a movie out of this.. Good read!
love love! such a good twist! keeps u on edge the whole time! totally recommend!
Dark Objects by Gillian Flynn keeps you on the edge of you seat from Chapter one. Each chapter is better then the previous one and makes you want to never stop reading/listening. Gillian Flynn is my favorite author all of her books included Dark Ojects are suspenseful, scary and surreal. The moment you think you have things figured out, Gillian thoughs in a twist and you are back at square one trying to figure out where she's heading with the book. I have heard this book is going to be made into a film. If that rumor is true I hope that Gillian Flynn works closely with the production to keep the story line as close tot he book as can be. I recommended anything by Gillian Flynn. I am waiting for her to release another novel! Happy Reading/Listening everyone!
Another wonderful, surprising, and breathtaking suspense novel from Gillian Flynn. The majority of the novel is told through the viewpoint of Libby but when it comes to the night in question you are only given flashbacks of the event told by her mother. An extremely clever mystery with twists and turns on every page. Rumor has it that next year this book will be adapted into film, I can`t wait to see how they adapt this brilliant audiobook for the big screen.
