4.5 Face Off was the first sports romance I really enjoyed and so reading Delayed Penalty felt like coming home. Hayes and Quinn were not just perfect for each other but also amazing with Flora. It was a delight to follow their relationships as they developed and grew. The "singles" group chat continues to be an entertaining glimpse into how the guys think, but honestly, I think it’s better to read them than to listen. Lol.Overall, I’m excited to dive into Fox’s book. The twist at the end caught me completely off guard!
I love the way Teagan does hockey romance! She hits all the right tropes in this one that will for sure have you so excited! Hayes becomes the guardian to his 7 year old niece, Flora. Quinn has gone from job to job, not quite finding what she wants to do. Then she ends up as the nanny for Flora. It is like a perfect fit because Flora is so quirky and full of light and Flora really needs this right now. It turns out that Hayes really needed her too. She balanced out his seriousness and brought the fun back into his life. I loved how much Hayes cared for both of them. There was lots of banter and spiice. Hayes was so swoony as he stood up to Quinn’s family and helped her figure out what she wanted out of her life. They were great together. The audio was really fun to listen to, especially with their banter and those group chats. The narrators did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life.
I haven’t read a ton of Teagan Hunter books, but what I have read, I’ve loved! Delayed Penalty was no different. I went into this one blind, only knowing that I loved the previous book in the series… but he’s a single UNCLE and she’s the nanny! I really loved how much Flora and Quinn bonded when Flora truly needed someone. Something about their relationship made my heart so happy. Quinn and Adam were great together. His willingness to show Quinn that she deserves to be loved, and she’s not what her siblings think of her had me loving him even more! This one made me happy the whole time!
I absolutely love a good hockey romance, and this book did not disappoint! The story centres on Adam, a hockey player unexpectedly thrust into guardianship of his niece Flora, a child he never even knew existed. With his demanding travel schedule, Adam has no choice but to hire a live-in nanny. Enter Quinn, the free-spirited daughter of the coffee shop owner he frequently visits. Despite their rocky first meeting, Quinn reluctantly agrees to the job after finding herself unemployed. While Adam struggles to connect with the reserved Flora, Quinn manages to draw her out of her shell. Adam can’t help but notice how, with Quinn’s help, Flora is creating a heartwarming bond with both of them, bringing them closer together in ways he never imagined. I really enjoyed watching Flora flourish and seeing Adam grow into an amazing father figure for her. Despite being reckless and a bit lost before adopting her, he truly stepped up to the role. And though Adam is the grump and Quinn a chaotic ray of sunshine, the chemistry between them is undeniable. The banter was spot on, Quinn’s vibrant personality kept things lively, and the tension between them made their relationship sizzle. This story truly delivered on all fronts! The audiobook, narrated by Rose Dioro and J. F. Harding, was exceptional. Their performances brought the characters to life in such a vivid way that I could not put it down. The voices they brought to Adam, Quinn, and Flora perfectly captured the energy and emotions of the story!
