The clarity, tone and nuance of the narrators voice was music to my ears. She made the 12 hours and forty minutes of storytelling a pleasure rather than toil while also subtly differentiating the many characters of each chapter.
The story has an array of flawed characters and some unpleasant imagery of rape and violence but ultimately this is not gratuitous in the scheme of developing the motivation of different characters. I was riveted.
I could not keep up with this plot. The book is divided into about 8 parts each with several chapters. Lots of characters were introduced and maybe even some with similar names??? Honestly, with the unfamiliar names and places narrated by someone with an accent (although I thought she was good), I didn’t know what was going on. The last 3 hours were the best part of this book.
While I did enjoy the story it was average. It was confusing in the beginning to work out who was who. The narrators pronunciation of some characters names drove me crazy. Other than that it’s an okay listen.
Interesting book, first you do not have a clue who are all those people but then you can't stop listening!
Fabulous book! I’m looking forward to the next one.
Trying too hard.
It was good. And I liked when I could start seeing the different strands come together
