Unabridged Audiobook
I’m sure the book is cool but the narrator literally drives me insane
The narrator certainly takes the Southern dialect and attitude to heart. The reading was quite monotonous. Which is something that I had to get used to, and maybe never did. The story was blend and unexciting. I would not recommend it to anyone.
Cute story.
I’m afraid with this book I couldn’t listen any longer than eight minutes as the Narrator was killing it. (Not in a good way) very disappointed ☹️
It did take a bit to get used to the narrator, but it was the story that I couldn’t get behind. We’re their prior books in this series? I felt I was just dumped into the middle of a world with no world building.
It was enjoyable and light listening.
Really struggled through this book, the narrator was not great at all which is a shame as the story was not bad
I literally cannot listen to this book because of the narration.
unfortunately, i could not finish this book. the story wasn't very compelling, hard to stay focused on. but it was mostly the narration for me, it was like listening to a southern gps. i didn't mind the accent, it was mostly the intonation. if you want to read or listen to this book, i would recommend trying a different narrator.
Cliché and farcical, full of stereotypes and tropes. If you're in the mood for something that mocks everything about contemporary fantasy, I guess this could be entertaining. I get that it's fiction, but I was looking for something that took storytelling more seriously. Every sentence is trying to pull out quippy turns of phrase and zingy one liners. There's clearly a clever mind behind this book, but I wish they'd used it to move the story along instead of showing off like they want to impress their creative writing class. I wanted to like it, but don't. Maybe I'll wait a few months and try to listen again, perhaps in a more frivolous mood I might be entertained instead of simply annoyed.
I loved this book, but will admit I kept wondering how old Rue was, and so when she had sangria I was thrown for a loop. The narrator was good, but her southern accent is not my favorite, and all the book is in a southern accent.
