Summary
In which, a 17-year-old apprentice dealer in rare books is sent from Paris to England by her father, to obtain incunabula and medieval books of devotion-and whatever secrets of political intrigue or finance may come to hand in the process. In the course of her business, though, Minnie meets Harold Grey (Lord John's elder brother), the newly-widowed (and alarmingly deranged) Duke of Pardloe, and things Fall Out. One of the two final novellas of SEVEN STONES TO STAND OR FALL.

This novella deserves higher ratings! It’s actually one of my favorite spin-off novellas from the main Outlander series. I’m totally here for a good love story, and this one is just fun! Another favorite of Diana’s novellas is The Space Between - and as a bonus, Davina Porter narrates it! No other narrator holds a candle to her, but Jeff Woodman has a very calming, British accent and does a good job. I highly recommend getting the “Seven Stones to Stand or Fall” because 7 of these shorter stories are (including my two favorites just mentioned!) are included, so it’s a great deal and has been helping me through this Droughtander! :)

Unfortunately I cannot give any stars to the narrator of this book. Being Belgian, my second language is French and my mothertongue is Flemish, aka Dutch. Needless to say that I am fluent in both. Still I did not understand any of the French nor Dutch the narrator read, I had to wait for the translation to English and then rewind, listen again and try to find the words he was supposed to read. I am sad to say but his reading of Dutch and French are best to be described as raping of the languages in question. It's hilarious, but actually also rather unacceptable.
