The unforgettable, inspiring story of a teenage girl growing up in a rural Nigerian village who longs to get an education so that she can find her “louding voice” and speak up for herself, The Girl with the Louding Voice is a simultaneously heartbreaking and triumphant tale about the power of fighting for your dreams.  Despite the seemingly insurmountable obstacles in her path, Adunni never loses sight of her goal of escaping the life of poverty she was born into so that she can build the future she chooses for herself – and help other girls like her do the same.  Her spirited determination to find joy and hope in even the most difficult circumstances imaginable will “break your heart and then put it back together again” (Jenna Bush Hager on The Today Show) even as Adunni shows us how one courageous young girl can inspire us all to reach for our dreams…and maybe even change the world.

Arranged marriages, dreams deferred in a Male chauvinist Nigeria. Old men marrying young women to bare their kids, more importantly boys. The paying of bride price, love lost, sisterhood mending, this story was breathtaking, an awakening. One doesn't realize how lucky we are not to live the life of others. Social classes, witchcraft, tribal ways versus western medicine and culture. #Book11of2020 #bookworm #whatsnext

The best writing I’ve read in a long time. The narrator was awesome. She brought each and every character to life. 10 stars.

Excellent book and superb narration! Highly engaging story that is all too real from another part of the world. I just must applaud this author with my louding voice!

The narrator was wonderful. It is alway great to hear a novel read by a narrator who makes the characters come to life. And to hear the characters names spoken out loud helps me identify with each character. Great job!! A worthwhile listen. And may we be ladies with louding voices.

This book was amazing, and Adduni (the girl with the louding voice) is my new favorite person in the world (even though she's a fictional character). The writing and the narrator grabbed my heart from the first to the last word. It is often painful, but the beauty of her being and the goodness she does encounter and hope, love and determination she mainstains in the midst of so much abuse remind us what life is all about. I learned alot about Nigeria, and am so inspired to do more to stop trafficking and to help young girls and women.

What a powerful story of determination! A young woman overcomes! This is a must read. The narrator’s accent was a bit hard to understand at first so I slowed the audio.
