Unabridged Audiobook
A very engaging story with interesting characters and setting. But a difficult book to listen to and keep track of because of the nonlinear story telling. It's best listened to in very large chunks. There are some clear anachronisms - regarding technology and punk rock - which was only starting to emerge in 1975, and is not likely to have been part of a mainstream ethos available to the young teens in the story. The female narrator's inability to voice male characters realistically and distinctively was also a clear disadvantage.
Not as great as I hoped it would be. Too much back and forth, too much going on. A good book but not the best.
DNF. Couldn’t follow the story line. Too long, too many characters, too much back and forth in time.
Great
Excellent book!
Great story telling. The "who done it" was cleverly crafted.
The book was a bit slow moving at first. But it picked up about a third of the way in and offered many twists and turns. A definite page turner at the end. I could not stop listening.
Thrilling story, captivating and well written. The narrator did an excellent job bringing all the characters to life.
I’m glad I read the comments and gave this book a chance! It had me hooked, line and sinker from beginning to end!
This book made me feel every emotion. Well written, I had no idea where this story was going and was completely surprised. Love this story so much!
This book is fantastic- definitely lives up to the hype. As a thriller lover though, know going in the book is far more drama than thriller. There isn’t a strong desire to figure out “who did it” as you’re more learning about the characters lives and how they spiderweb. Overall, I think the book is about the lives and choices of a group of loosely related (some blood related) women, written very well. Some you love, some bug you, but all feel so very real. The desire is more to know what happens to all of them, over solving the crime. It was wonderful and my best read of the year (so far of 30!)
