Unabridged Audiobook
Sounds like it’s read by AI/Google Translate. Loved the book tho. Tok a while to get into it, but I raced through it after part one/two. The ending had my feelings going all over the place.
Great book, but sounds like it is read by AI.
Astonishing that for such a great novel - popular as it may be - a decent audiobook doesn't seem to exist. I am a traditonally published writer and film-maker, and drawing on many years of experience in the field of literature and entertianment, I would suggest that it is fundamental that a book is read in the accent that would be spoken by the author. It is therefore absurd and highly distracting that this most American of book should be read by a performer with an English accent. I listened to the sample and immediately decided that this version is unlistenable for me. I have also come across books such as Jane Eyre or the children's books of E. Nesbit performed by Americans. It sounds simply ridiculous. Talk about miscasting! Surely this is what talking books are all about - a believable voice and tone. To make matters worse, the performance here, sadly, is flat as a pancake for one of the most passionate romances ever written.
