Unabridged Audiobook
I love all Oliver Sacks' books, may he rest in peace. He made the understanding of neurology & neurodivergence accessible for the lay people more than anything else in history. Truly a genius in his field, he always humanized all the quirks & abnormalities of the human mind, but also taught us that many of the things we thought were maladies were in fact not. This is what he teaches us in Hallucinations. You may hear voices (auditory hallucinations ) or see things (visual hallucinations) yet you are in fact not schizophrenic at all. Too many people down through the ages have been labeled as insane due to their hallucinations when they were anything but so. For that reason alone, it's definitely worth your time to inform yourself of the many ways you can have all the types of hallucinations but not be mentally ill. Don't allow yourself to become labeled as such & doped into a stupor for the rest of your life. Reading/listening to this book could save your life from being unnecessarily medicated & wrongly diagnosed. Educate yourself so you can advocate for yourself.
