Whether we are on the road and embracing outcasts with Francis, cloistered with Clare and serving the vulnerable who show up at the door, or in the library, lecture hall, or study with Bonaventure, Franciscan spirituality lives by the hope of personal and planetary transformation. 

Claiming Franciscan spirituality today requires us to embrace and transform twelfth and thirteenth century wisdom for the twenty-first century. Like Francis and his followers, we must join the eternal and the ever-changing, the infinite and the finite. We cannot live in the world of abstractions but must form and transform our theology and spirituality in the world in which we live.
