Summary
Hekate is a great ancient goddess. She is primordial, strong and at times animalistic-and at the same time intelligent, progressive and able to adapt to different cultures. She is the Torchbearer, the Earth Spirit of Cosmics, the Guide and Companion. She is the Restless Dead's Queen, who rules the heavens, the earth, and the sea. She is the Keybearer standing at the intersection of life, death, and initiation. Now, as throughout the ages, her devotees include philosophers, poets, sorcerers, theurgists, witches, root cutters, enchantors, and ordinary people.

Throughout the centuries of her known history, she was cherished, feared and despised. Depicted in different ways as three-shaped facing in three directions, as well as at times with animal heads-and at other times as single bodied standing carrying torches, or enthroned as depictions of the goddess Kybele, Hekate has and will probably always remain one of the greatest enigmas among the gods.

It is easy to believe that her myths have been lost, like many of the other deities, only to re-emerge and be resurrected in the hands of the new Pagan revival, but even scratching on the surface of the available evidence will soon give us a different story. She has never been forgotten, and perhaps there has never been a time when fires have not been kept burning somewhere for her, nor a time when offerings have not been made in her memory.

We are today culturally and socially very different from the Hellenic Greeks who honored her, but then they were also very different from the cultures who preceded her and honored Hekate, and those that later continued to honor her in their own unique and diverse ways throughout the years.

So it is important to do this with at least some consideration for the social and cultural context from which it originated while considering Hekate's past.

it was an OK and informative book. unfortunately, I thought it was a book about Hekate, of whom I am a devotee...But it was really just a book about the most basic chakra and stone information, which was pretty redundant, in my case, and disappointing

A wealth of fascinating information on Hekate, structured into a practical one year lesson plan. I found the book engaging, useful and enjoyable to work through.

This book (like most books) isn't for everyone. If you don't want to place a great amount of emphasis or effort into working with Hekate, or you are looking for a traditional witchcraft approach to working with Hekate, this book probably won't satisfy you.

If you want a good introduction to Hekate or you want to develop a relationship with Hekate within the confines of a modern witchcraft approach, this is an excellent place to start.

This isn't a book of traditional witchcraft, it's a book of modern witchcraft. It doesn't make an attempt to recreate the religious practices of Ancient Greece in regard to Hekate. Instead, it pulls Hekate and some elements of ancient Hekatean worship into practices that are common in modern witchcraft.

it is written for witches in particular, since it stands on it's own merits and is inclusive it can be of use to anybody who wishes a relationship with Hekate.

A very good book for witches who are looking for a structured way approach Hekate, but with enough room for a chaos witch to move in. The love the author has for Her is evident in all of the historical research she has done/is still doing.

This book is full of information, recipes, spells, and rituals. Its like a full book of shadows around botanical magick and botanical spirit work. Its a very engaging read as well, and not just a reference book with lists and tables. This book will definitely help you advance your craft.
