Unabridged Audiobook
Interesting story, but narration was painfully monotonous at times almost sounding computer generated.
The story is short and repetitive. It would have helped to outline it better before writing it down because the same feelings and memories were repeated many times in a way that made it seem like she never mentioned it before. I grew weary with the repetition. However, it was enlightening. Human trafficking is a scary fact of life. Also, it showcased how the foster system can fail miserably. That makes me sad.
could not listen to it all the dreary monotone got onmynerves
Amazing what the human spirit can endure, worth the read!
Very good read. I finished it in just a few days because it drew me in so much.
Had to fast forward the book to speed up the narrator.
This is such an eye opener. Love my daughter who is 14 is reading this through school to realize how well she has it when she dreads school or chores. I feel awful what this poor girl went through abs how much of her child hood she lost. I haven’t even finished but am so engulfed in this book!
Great book and opens your eyes to some difficult things in life.
Truly amazing
I really believe that this really happens all over the world. I‘be had heard about this happening many years ago. When I was at one time in Mexico, I seen children scared and with rags and whole shoes cleaning the front of stores. I had stopped there and was trying to talk to them. They wouldn’t answer me when the man or woman working the store. When they did they had asked for for help. I had thought that they needed someone to help move a stand outside the store in order to sweep and was the sidewalk. They were looking over to see if they were being watched because they needed to run from there. I never thought of anything like this happening.
Good book. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Gave a very real look into the inside life of a child slave snuck into the US from Egypt, and the importance of ICE and border security in breaking the problem. It also is a inspiration to see what one can overcome in the face of such hardship.
Interesting story but the detail was a little basic and the writing a little stilted. Fascinating to hear how she made a life after slavery.
I liked it. Hard to believe this is still happening.
Very interesting story and it’s so uplifting to hear how people can overcome such horrible situations. I thought the narrator’s inflections were off though and there were often odd pauses in her reading when there should not have been. Definitely still worth the read.
Extremely interesting. Different. I learned so much from this book! Not only will I watch for slaves, i will also teach my children and friends, relatives, coworkers about this! I am a hospital RN ,mother and grandmother... so many people i can educate to help
Such a good book! It’s a very important topic that a lot of people are blind to.
somewhat nterstinh, but amateurish. annoying narrator
Narrator speaks so fast. She sounds like she is in a race to finish. Good story tho.
Amazing book. Seriously you have to listen to it. It's very worth it!
This is a good true story of overcoming being enslaved. She also tells us how we all can be aware of saving others who are going through what happened to her.
Very informative book about modern day slavery. This book made me feel grateful that I have always had my freedom, and I will be more aware of others around me that may need help escaping bondage.
