Liked this one a lot but the narrator did this annoying whistle when he pronounced ‘s’ sounds. Very distracting

Robert E Howard has gifted us yet again with a captivating saga of Conan. There’s no boredom here as you wend your way through all the twists and turns of trickery, magic, valour and deception.I always look forward to his intricate plots and subterfuges, along with a great variety imaginative characters, both major and minor.

Conan is King of Aquilonia but his enemies have awakened a long dead sorcerer with the help of an ancient, magical gem, in a bid to unseat the barbarian and one of their own upon his throne. With foul magic, they defeat the Aquilonian army and seize Conan's capital, forcing the barbarian to fight many foes and travel throughout western and southern Hyborea to reclaim his crown and liberate his realm. One of the greatest examples of the genre "The Hour of the Dragon" (aka "Conan the Conqueror") has everything that a sword and sorcery should have. Conan is powerful, impetuous, bold, and tireless. His enemies include a sorcerer of ancient evil, a traitorous baron, a cruel debaucher and usurper, and prince who spread a pandemic in his own lands to secure his throne. All the women are lithe and scantily clad, Conan's foes and fearsome and horrific, and his battle bloody and brutal. Pros: Great action and adventure with memorable villains and an imaginative, exotic setting Cons: Pretty racist by modern standards
