Unabridged Audiobook
A complete page turner, The House I loved had me from the minute it started and stayed with me long after it was done. Not only is it a beautiful architectural book with it's setting in the 1860's it is also a bit of a mystery novel. With the government ready to demolish her house to make way for the future transformation of France, Rose along with her neighbors are told to pack up and leave the homes they have known their whole lives. Told through first person and through letters to her deceased husband you find that Rose also bears a dark secret, that keeps her tied to the house. I recommend that when listening, listen with a box of Kleenex!
