Summary
'Daniel Henning is a great narrator for this quirky and theatrical audiobook...Henning revels in a cornucopia of characters, diving into nuanced voices and colorful moments with accents and growls, tone shifts and whispers...This is definitely a title for those who enjoy fantasy stories replete with gnomes and witches and all in between' -- AudioFile Magazine

Lambda Literary Award-winning author TJ Klune’s breakout contemporary fantasy

Linus Baker is a by-the-book case worker in the Department in Charge of Magical Youth. He's tasked with determining whether six dangerous magical children are likely to bring about the end of the world.

Arthur Parnassus is the master of the orphanage. He would do anything to keep the children safe, even if it means the world will burn. And his secrets will come to light.

The House in the Cerulean Sea is an enchanting love story, masterfully told, about the profound experience of discovering an unlikely family in an unexpected place—and realizing that family is yours.

A Macmillan Audio production from Tor Books

'Daniel Henning provides nimble, versatile narration, clearly having fun voicing a variety of magical creatures as well as cautious Linus, protective Arthur, and a wide range of secondary characters...This charming, funny tale about chosen family and finding your place in the world is sweet without being saccharine and heartwarming without being corny.' -- School Library Journal

'1984 meets The Umbrella Academy with a pinch of Douglas Adams thrown in.' -- Gail Carriger, New York Times bestselling author of Soulless

Stupid book. All about being politically correct and accepting everything and anything goes.

My wife recommended this book to me and I really dislike reading. I chose the audiobook option because happy wife happy life right? This book managed to hold my ADD attention span and I may or may not have finished it in record time. I really enjoyed the story line and it is very well narrated. The voices the narrator does are all unique and kept me focused. 10/10 would recommend this for people who have trouble staying focused and reading.

Juvenile fantasy, not quite young adult though I stopped halfway through. Good book but failed to keep my attention.

It has a unique plot with interesting caricatures with a nice ending, I would like to see more caricature development In more than just the main caricature.

Pleasant enough with incredibly low stakes and overly animated character voices. It was a highly anticipated listen that was a struggle to finish.

Many times since finishing this book I've wished I could erase my memory of it in order to go back and rediscover it for the first time. I lived vicariously through our conflicted and ultimately lovable protagonist as he met the inhabitants of the house on the Cerulean Sea. Every page of this novel is a joyfully immersive read. Loved it.

This book is pure magic. The narrator did an excellent job representing each character so thoughtfully. “Don’t you wish you were here?” Why yes, yes I do!! I’ll be thinking about this book and it’s beautiful message for a very long time.

Good until the last hour, which was horrible. I give the last hour a 2 rating. The ending was too "neat," predictable, and so overly filled with agenda writing that it suddenly was no longer about the book and became preachy. There were always underlying themes of equality, tolerance, and LGBT rights, which was fine. But the ending beat all those over the head so heavily and thickly that the last hour was unenjoyable. The author could have brought the themes across without ruining the plotline and overshadowing the characters.
