Unabridged Audiobook
I liked it. It wasn’t as gory as some of Michael Anderle’s other stories which I enjoyed. The story is well written flows nicely and is brilliantly read by the narrator with subtle nuances that add to the story telling. I enjoyed following the journey of the four main characters, how they wrestled with their decisions and the consequences whilst growing because of them. This made the story seem more realistic even with the inclusion of spell casting. I especially enjoyed the struggle of new learning and the realisations it brought. However, I didn’t realise this book came after the how to be a witch series so I found there were some hints at back stores that I didn’t quite understand and 2 characters that didn’t quite make sense until I realised, I knew the information was relevant but wasn’t sure how it related. But it held its own and is quite enjoyable as a stand alone.
**NOTE Before listening to this book, make sure you have read/listened to How to Be a Badass Witch books 1-3 as they are the start of Kera's story** How to be a Badass Vigilante Book 1 is the next chapter in Kera's story. The story continues straight after book 3 of the previous 'chapter'. Kera has to explain to her boyfriend she's a witch and confesses to wiping his memories a time or 2 - something he's not happy about. Can he get past it and continue their relationship? The Kim's are still providing Kera with training. And just when Kera thinks she's off one coven's radar, another one pops up - are they friendly or do they have a hidden agenda?? Kera's friend from work, Stephanie, is also finding out what it's like to be a witch - will she 'fess up to Kera? This book was a bit slower than the Witch books - not as much action as the previous books, but is obviously building up to something big. This is a great series and I love Dara Rosenberg as a narrator.
