Summary
In a windswept British seaside town, single mum Alice Lake finds a man sitting on the beach outside her house. He has no name and no idea how he got there. Against her better judgment, she invites him inside. Meanwhile, in a suburb of London, twenty-one-year-old Lily Monrose has only been married for three weeks. When her husband fails to come home from work one night, she is left alone in a place where she knows no one and with the police telling her that her husband never existed. In this suspenseful drama, both women must sort through the secrets surrounding men neither of them knows if they can trust.

I didn’t want to finish it it is one of those books that induce anxiety and with the world in such a state - global warming , pandemics etc etc I just don’t want to read it why can’t there be more uplifting works out there? They are all of the same genre at the moment. No one in the reviews has mentioned it’s also really sad as if deaths of very young teenagers just don’t matter any more. Lisa never used to write like this she has jumped on the gone girl band wagon

Really enjoyed this book! Love how it all came together; the past and present. Had a few plot twists that I was not expecting. Narration was great as well.

Very easy to listen to, loved the perception of the present and past... coming together at the end. Just when I thought I knew where it was going I was taken by surprise at the twists!

Fantastic story. Narrator was great. Found myself sitting in my car, listening, after reaching my destination multiple times.

Very interesting listen. I love when the narrators' accents match the characters, it really adds to the overall story IMO.

I found this Lisa Jewell book a better listen than One Hit Wonder. It holds your interest and has a nice twist at the end.

This was a good read. Good plot twists, and it wasn’t until the end of the story that you find out who’s who.

Not the best of Lisa Jewell. The story was easy to figure out, no a-ha moments for me. Can’t say why I didn’t care for the narrator. They did an ok job. Perhaps to the lackluster story was what made me not care for the narrator.
