Summary
The one obituary you never want to read-is your own.

Laura Swallow is dead. A life cut tragically short, says the newspaper obituary. But that's a lie.

Estate agent Laura did not die in a car accident. She is alive and well. At first, Laura thinks it's a sick joke. But multiple announcements of her death are followed by increasingly sinister real-life events.

Already fragile, struggling to recover from a recent divorce, Laura is plunged into a living nightmare. Who can she trust? Her new lover? Her clients and work colleagues? What about her ex-husband and his smug fiancee? Can Laura even rely on her best friends?

And why is it that Laura's present troubles are so tied up with her sister's sudden death all those years ago? But one thing Laura is sure of-someone out there wants her to suffer. Wants her gone.

Forever.

Absolute rubbish. I was really enjoying it at first but the plot just got more frustrating as people didn’t behave how they would in real life in order to manipulate the story line. If the character just went to the police or communicated in a normal fashion all would have been sorted out in five minutes. I’m fed up with authors trying to emulate books such as ‘gone girl’ and ‘girl on the train’ without putting any real effort or thought into the plausibility of the plot or behaviour of the characters . Just junk, easily guessable who ‘did it’ within the first five minutes - how it got published I’ll never know.

How this book ever got published is beyond me. The main character was irritating & irrational. The plot weak & nonsensical. It was only my habit of always finishing a book that saw me through.

Always read the reviews! The premise of the story is good but the main character is weak. A tolerable listen but not an engrossing plot.

The main character is a bit frustrating but the storyline is compelling and the narrator is great.

This book was a real disappointment. The main character, Laura, was weak and incapable of managing. As a single mother working in an industry that relies on communicating and networking with others, this woman seems unable to do anything for herself and relies heavily on a couple of other women to push her along — in all the wrong directions. Through numerous unbelievable events, Laura made the most irrational decisions and suffered at each consequence. I listened until the end and was glad when the book was over.

Great Narration Helped me to stay with this book right to the end. It frustrated me beyond belief as to how illogical the main character is throughout. I found myself going Oh for Gods sake..."

Terrible. If I could give no star I would. I had it figured out within an hour. The lead was one of the most annoying characters I’ve ever come across.

Lovely narration.

Fantastic start and premise, but a fairly straightforward solution drawn out unecessarily slowly at the end, and a bit unrealistically tied together.
