Unabridged Audiobook
This book had the possibility of duplicating what’s already been written but Cogman took many fresh twists and turns and delivered a wonderful tale. I look forward to book 2. Narration was great.
In the beginning there was the word…. This is a patchy effort that takes some time to get going. The premise is highly original, and the plot takes sudden turns that grab the reader and pull them back into the story. These plot turns are essential as I almost stopped listen to the story out of boredom. It takes about 4 hours to get into it. Another area where Cogman shines is with her villain. The villains dialogue is supremely good, and the particular characteristics of this villain are, I find, truly horrifying. It taps into some primal fear. Overall, not a waste of time.
