Unabridged Audiobook
I was caught up from the start by this very human story. Narrartion was spot on and I couldn't help but wonder what I would do in the same situation. I found this moving and inspirational and I want to learn more. I am very grateful to the author for this work and sharing this intamate story of his people and culture.
There are few books that will change one’s perspective and long held notions. This is one of those rare gems.
Great listen, well written, well researched. the books pulled at my heart strings and stirred something deep of my being.
This book makes one question, when will these stories be taught in our schools? Wonderful, eyeopening account and well narrated. .
This book was excellent and was to the point and gave me some great insight on crazy horse
Excellent book. It is deeply researched, well written and brought to life characters more mythological than understood. I enjoyed the reflections that provided important insight into the culture and life philosophy of the Lakota. A rewarding read, enjoyable and enlightening.
Amazing story! I loved it. the narrator does an excellent job. He is also the writer.
"There are Always two sides to one story." If only every American had the courage and desire to learn about the other side of our nations history rather than the propaganda fed to them through the decades old education system that never questioned the Truth of what they were teaching the children of this nation. Right now our nation needs to know, understand and take responsibility for how this nation was founded and the First People's plight at the hands of Euro-Americans. Beautifully written, researched and spoken about the honorable and respected Crazy Horse.
This book is great. Should be compulsory reading in US schools and for all white supremacists.
A really moving book about something very special the world almost lost. Excellent read, well narrated
This is deep meditation on the soul of a great man. I had not expected it to be so thought-provoking.
the author's narration is excellent. loved it.
The heart knows what is true. As I was finishing the book, I saw a documentary about an archiological team that surveyed the Little Bighorn sight for evidence. Then, I watched a Amazon movie entitled "Woman Walks Alone". I admit, white settlers and the new governemnt really screwed us for generations to come. Hoping we can one day find the balance again as was intended by our common creator. Excellent read and ditto the narrator.
I've always wanted to read the story of the Lakota tribe. I'm glad I'd waited until now. This book, and it's reading, were superbly done. You could feel the story as it was read. A "must listen" for anyone interested in native American history. Thank you.
Awesome! Joseph M Marshall III is a great author and story teller, and to hear him narrate the book is an amazing thing. To know and learn more about Crazy Hourse and the Lakota people, and hear their point of view is priceless. I highly recomend this book!
Amazing book and narrator!
Good content, the narrator was lackluster at best… hard to stay awake!
A wonderful story of leadership and human nature. Crazy Horse is the kind of man I would've liked to have known. And the narrator did an exceptional job of bringing the emotions and reality of that time in History, so vivid.
I really enjoyed this book. I learned so much that I did not know about Crazy Horse and the culture. Hearing it read by the author who is a full blooded Lakota was really a treat.
Powerful story of true heroism and the plight of a people fighting to just just LIVE!
Beautifully written and narrated
Probably one of the most honest accounts every written about Crazy Horse. Well narrated by the author in the traditional way
This was a wonderful story and narration. I thoroughly enjoyed this listen.
Good perspective snd history lesson
This book gave great insight into the values of the Lakota way of life and philosophy, something that most of us have no knowledge of. It is important that we learn about the wisdom of the native cultures of North America and how they have been obliterated and destroyed.
Great book that I enjoyed very much and the author did a good job narrating the story. The biography of Crazy horse from this personal point of view further emphasizes what a great leader he was. Joseph Marshall, thanks for capturing and sharing these stories.
Very compelling account of the life of Crazy Horse. I wish there had been more about the women in his story. And could have done without some pretty trite “reflections” on leadership. But overall a very well told story.
I enjoyed this book as it provided the culture of the Lakotas and the personality and story of Crazy Horse. The narrator is excellent as his voice helped me visualize Crazy Horse, his tribe and family, and their points of view towards white men and other tribes. These stories need to be told and learned so we can understand what happened and treat people more humanely and fair.
Beautifully written by a Lakotan, with insight and deep understanding of Lakota culture that made the story impossible to put down. The calm narration of the author, with an ever so slight native accent had me wishing it would never end. Luckily, there was a bonus story!
I found the narrator to be very monotonous. Only listened for a short time.
There seemed to be a lot of repletion of stories and facts that was hard to keep up with. I thought that I had accidentally gone backward several times. Author narrated and was not as polished as professional narrators,
The author did an amazing job. Nothing but respect and love for the Lakota!
Narrator was wonderful. Wept at the author’s generosity of spirit. Lived in these words for the few hours of listening. Wanted to hear more. The care and ethical concerns of all Aboriginal peoples for every aspect of life and the kindness extended to even their oppressors is humbling and an example to all others of right living. I can not recommend this book and narrator/author highly enough. Both were wonderful. I am privileged to have read it. Thank you.
The actions of Crazy Horse reminisce the actions of many anti-colonial fighters. Often portrayed as violent savages by those stealing land then remembered as hero freedom fighters.
I think it was a great book, but it is tragic what we did to the Native Americans! I love listening to history, wish there was more on Native Americans.
Marshal’s biography of Crazy Horse is a remarkable work. One of the finest biographies I have ever read. I cannot recommend this book too highly.
I’m praying we have learned from what we, as a country, did to our beautiful ancestors.
A great story told by a Native American that understood the stories of his elders.
Well, written, well read. Loved the insight and history! I highly recommend this book.
Such grace and humility in the telling of this story by the author. Take time to explore the provenance of his background, to see how well qualified he is.... Follow the money (as ever), it was about the yellow stuff and land grabbing So what has changed ? I feel that 1st nation peoples ought to have at least 3 seats at the UN What a wonderful time listening Thank you
I was traveling to SD Black Hills region when I started listening. This is so in-depth and spot on, educated me on the true history of tribal Indians, shame on white man greed. I will be listening to more educational books on this subject. Could not have listened to it at a better time as I tour the areas, Crazy Horse Memorial and the tribal lands.
A great read/listen and way more than you’d expect. You will be very satisfied with this book.
Amazing book. Very tragic times
Very well research and I enjoyed the analysis/reflection chapters. At times is was a slow read.
I have recommended this book to my children and many of my friends. I am older now and listen to lots of lots of books and history is. I was so impressed to hear a native speaker that rate this book. I recommend it to anyone who wants the real truth about what happened between the Native Americans in the United States government. A wonderful wonderful history
love the passion for life in the story.
