Unabridged Audiobook
The ideas in this book are simple and I’m hoping it’s a system that will help me cope with my ADD. I have trouble prioritizing, and with time management. When I was in college the system that worked best for me was a monthly view of a calendar and a daily/weekly system with postits. My life is more complex then when I was in college and I feel like I’m spiraling one day to the next. And wasting a lot of time just feeling overwhelmed. I like this system because is familiar; flexible; and makes all these abstract things that I need to do, or think about, tangible. I think between a personal kanban and bullet journaling (for reflection) I’ll beable to finally have a personal system that can help me make progress in life
This book was purchased because the author claimed to take the kanban system and apply it in an unconventional way. It's rare to see "thinking" like this - most seem intent on rigidly and rigorously copying others. It was refreshing to see an author who promotes thinking instead of blind copying.
As a consultant, I want the flexibility to adapt my work to take advantage of opportunities that might arise in a given week--to write an article or blog post, or to propose a project to a new client. And, while I try to plan a week's worth work, I need the flexibility to adapt my work on the fly. I work in small chunks, finishing work. I like seeing completed work. I have a great sense of accomplishment when I see completed work.
Kanban allows the vital communication between staff members and with management to be fluid. People, in my experience, want to do their jobs well and want to be a part of a group that allows individuals to make decisions and be responsible for their part without the need for orders. PK is a focal point that fosters total participation.
