Summary
Mary DiNunzio gets a terrifying telephone call while she's working late, then goes home to find a shadow lurking at her front door. When a lawyer close to her turns up dead, Mary begins to suspect that the case she's been working on -- involving the suicide of an Italian-American in an internment camp during World War II -- may not be ancient history after all.

This is my first exposure to Scottoline. The characters were believable; the situations too far out to be. Story line and content were compelling, but for me the reader almost ruined it. It took the entire first disc to accustom myself to the rapid fire, auctioneer like patter and little if any notable difference in character voices.

I don't usually read Lisa Scottoline books expecting humor, but this book was so funny and the reader so good that I laughed out loud through the whole book. I also enjoyed the mystery aspect of it. Like another reader, I too learned about the Italian internment camp during WWII from reading this book.

Kept my interest. A little unrealistic - how far the lead would go in this situation but engaging nevertheless. This series is v. entertaining.

This is an easy entertaining read. I enjoyed Scottoline's imaginative, suspenseful, fast-paced and sometimes comical tale as attorney Mary and partner Judy reach back into American history to solve a murder. Unfortunately I do Not recommend this audiobook because of the continual and unnerving smacking and swallowing sounds of the narrator. These sounds were loud and creepy to hear in the background.
