Awesome story. Will listen to it again because it was such a true life history from a family that grew up in Florida and narration was excellent!

A great old-fashioned adventure story that carries you along with it. No zigzagging back and forwards in time, no constant switching of narration between the characters, just a good story simply told. Very enjoyable.

I love a sweeping, epic adventure, and this book doesn't disappoint. Really well written and fantastically narrated. I'm a relatively new Floridian, so the book was really a beautiful way to become familiar with some of the historical aspects. Highly recommended!

Great story, great narrator. You don't have to be a Floridian to really love this book. It is not a western frontier book, it is a pioneer book. Besides entertainment, their is much to learn in its pages. The narrator in this Audiobooks selection is very appropriate for the story.

I loved the book and the narrator is terrific. I’m a third generation Floridian so the places in the book were familiar to me and I’ve met people like the McIvy’s all my life. My father was very proud of his pioneering relatives who settled Boyton Beach FL and those that were part of the beginnings of the Indian River citrus business. Anyone who admires pioneers and those willing to undergo hardship for a better life will find this book hard to put down.

After my mother wouldn’t stop bringing this book up (for years) and hearing that my grandmother and even my father (I’ve never known him to pick up a book)read it made me finally cave in and purchase it when I couldn’t think of anything else and boy am I glad I did! This book was a real page turner and being born and raised in Florida everything in this book felt relatable. This is an unforgettable novel. I highly recommend!
