Summary
What would happen if millions of people around the world suddenly disappeared one day? In this fascinating apocalyptic thriller, best-selling Christian inspirational authors LaHaye and Jenkins pool their considerable talents to answer that question. Narrator Richard Ferrone's unusually deep and hypnotic voice will keep you right in the middle of this not-unimaginable end of the world nightmare. Pilot Rayford Steele is contemplating adultery with a young flight attendant when over 100 of his passengers simply vanish, leaving vacated clothes and bewildered companions. Rayford and the others left behind must deal with mass chaos on top of personal loss. Among the passengers still left is star reporter Cameron 'Buck' Williams, who just got the assignment of a lifetime: find out what happened and why. Theories abound, from Christian Rapture to alien abduction. Buck suspects secret meetings between international power brokers are somehow connected. And rising political icon Nicolae Carpathia seems to be at the center of it all.

This book had great potential and I would say I enjoyed it, but it was long drawn out painting the picture and introducing the characters. By the time things really started to happen it ended. I’m not a religious person but still enjoyed the concept. I would like to know what happens next but I don’t think I can endure the waffle.

It's and entertaining and potentially inspiring story, but I am concerned that many readers will be confused by the popular myths used the story which have no basis in the bible and can easily be used to support bogus theology.

I've listened to this book many times- and enjoyed it every time!

I didn't like the story at all. Maybe if I were a Christian and a true believer, I might have enjoyed listening to it. But rapture? This just wasn't for me.

This is good stuff, not as good as Frank Peretti stuff, but still really interesting listen, I thought so even after watching the movie several years back.

Overblown religious pap. Poorly written. I was disappointed to say the least.

The writer does a wonderful job illustrating the beginning of the end. Interesting interpretation.

The pauses between the different chapters are sometimes so long, that I have to check if my phone is still on and did not go into standby mode, other than that, I enjoyed the book. I have read the whole series but with the current loadshedding in our country, I find the audiobooks are better ☺

1999, I was out to sea on US Navy ship when a fellow sailor told me about the series. He said, "as a Christian, it's a must read." My wife bought the books and began the series herself. While late to the game, the story is still relevant today. The narration is superb and really gets the listener into the story. It's a must read for Christians and non-Christians alike.
