Summary
Don’t miss one of America’s top 100 most-loved novels, selected by PBS’s The Great American Read.

Four adventurous siblings—Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie—step through a wardrobe door and into the land of Narnia, a land frozen in eternal winter and enslaved by the power of the White Witch. But when almost all hope is lost, the return of the Great Lion, Aslan, signals a great change . . . and a great sacrifice.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is the second book in C. S. Lewis's classic fantasy series, which has been drawing readers of all ages into a magical land with unforgettable characters for over sixty years. This is a stand-alone read, but if you would like to explore more of the Narnian realm, follow up with The Horse and His Boy, the third book in The Chronicles of Narnia.

Great book for adults and children alike. The symbolism was very subtle. The lion is a substitute for the little boy. What does this remind you of?

I enjoyed this book. I liked The Magicians Nephew more but this carried the same fairy tale adventure feeling as the last. Light hearted and easy to follow.

This book and this narrator are what made me fall in love with the series. I don't care for all of them so I only own four: this one plus Prince Caspian, voyage of the Dawn treader, and the silver chair. The narrators are fantastic and the stories are thought-provoking and a delight.

This book is a masterful work of Literary Art. C.S. Lewis weaves a complex tapestry using threads of deep theological discourse to create a fantastical story that entertains both children and adults. The narrator does an excellent job. The only thing I felt to my distaste was the occasional musical interludes at the end of some Chapters.

I liked that this was simply read, not done with different actors doing different parts. Much better for encouraging kids to read.

I remember reading this book in the past, but for some reason I remember there being more...the mind of a child I guess. At any rate, as an adult it is still and entertaining book and worth the time to listen to. The reader also does a very good job.

This was my first C. S. Lewis - ever. After listening to all the Potter books and finding them extremely entertaining, I was rather disappointed in this. I found the language rather stilted - but maybe that's just the way they wrote back then. The narrator did a good job, and the story was good. Maybe I need to listen to the rest of the Chronicles to get the full flavor.
