Unabridged Audiobook
That description by the publisher, 'haunting and atmospheric,' is maybe more true here than for any other of John LeCarre's novels. For anyone who has read his books and found his latent (or overt) sexism irritating, Charlie will be an invigorating character. This has all the shadowy intrigue the author is famous for- an anti-Fleming in which spy craft is less glamorous than it is disdainful, less active than it is manipulative, a necessary evil to a better end.
