I’m enjoying the audios of this series. Todd McLaren’s performance is so good; I could listen to his soothing voice all day long. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have enjoyed this nearly as much if I had just read the book. This story was first published in 1997 so it’s understandable that it’s a bit dated but one of the things I loved is that this flipped the typical wealthy male / poor female trope on its head. Sandy is from a wealthy ranching family and Jobe has worked for them for many years. Sandy has a college degree and knows a lot about computers, Jobe has neither. The two have been sparring with each other for years but things finally come to a head and cruel words are said by both. This is a fairly short audiobook but it was a great way to pass the time while I was doing laundry today.
