Unabridged Audiobook
I love apocalypse stories that make me cry. I hate terfs. I’m a transmasc with a transfemme best friend and both of us grew up learning wilderness survival skills. For the first time in my life I see us reflected in a narrative through characters written with deep and complicated intricacies. I see not just us, but other people I’ve been lucky- and unlucky- enough to have known. It feels good to be seen. The catharsis in this story feels good, too. Tough it’s fragile, shattering with each trans death portrayed, before building again every time those who see us as monsters and fakers are torn apart by the narrative and it’s zombie horde (or killed by the characters themselves).
an interesting take on the "post-apocalyptic" sub genre. my only wish is that the narrator has a little more very character voices and internal monologue voices. still really enjoyed this book and the narrator!
