Unabridged Audiobook
The book also gives great advice on what to do to increase sales and how to get better tips as a waiter a lot of it is common sense but the author has a lot research to back it up.
This book is awesome! Everything he writes about makes sense but I just didn't think of it like he does. I realized how much this stuff has been used on me personally and now I use it in my relationships in my life. It really will improve your life and I kind of wish this was a secret book that no one knew about because it is full of amazing tactics haha
Some thought-provoking insights into the way influence and persuasion work. As I read it, I definitely noticed how I have been personally affected by some of these techniques and it's made me somewhat "paranoid" about people asking me to do things or trying to sell me stuff, haha. I think it's a good thing, though, because you do want to be aware of the choices you're making, and not be manipulated by people who are good at influence and persuasion. I would recommend this book to anyone, it is a great read.
This book provides the answers in an entertaining way, along with many others. I was astonished to see just how susceptible we are to manipulation of the social rules which guide us in day-to-day life. The author includes a large number of anecdotes, backed up by studies and references. It was a fun, quick read, and it will affect how I deal with solicitations and salesmen from now on. Conversely if you are a salesperson looking to get better at your job, this book will help.
the author went to great pains to make this book both readable and useful. It's an easy read, but that does not mean the material is basic. You can use the principles laid out in this book for so many different areas . . . the too basic argument just doesn't make sense.
It will give you insight into what makes people tick and how to improve your business, almost more than any other book I've read. It's not a sales book primarily, but if you are in sales this book has the potential to increase your success rate more than any other book I've read.
I’ve been meaning to read this book for a long time, and I’m glad that I finally did. It usefully structures numerous experiments in social psychology around six key themes related to influence and persuasion: reciprocation, commitment, social proof, likability, authority and scarcity. Doubtless you have heard about some of the underlying ideas, but probably not in such an artfully organized way.
I love how he gives examples after examples of tricks and tactics to manipulate the consumer which is us and how to say NO to all those tricks !
The author of this book gives you all the tools you need not to get scammed and fooled. He gives many examples of tactics used by salespeople trying to lure customers in and fooling them whether in person or through an ad.
Entertaining and enlightening all the way from the first page to the last. It's a quick and easy read, and you'll probably learn lots of interesting things even if you usually read all the layman psychology you can get your hands on. I hated to see this book end! Some nice pictures, too.
