Unabridged Audiobook
Great to slow down and fall asleep to. I keep falling to sleep, so still need to listen to the last 5 minutes.
This read left me with a slight taste of disgust, just as the writer intended I guess; the style and attitude of the upper class Americans towards the war is quite disgusting, nevertheless the foolish longing of the maine character, Troy, to fight in a real battle. The author describes France and the war scenery in every detail, it unfolds in front of the eyes of the reader. Overall it is a fair read, I rate it 3 stars because of the unpleasant feelings it has left in me. As for the narration, exceptional as it is always with Elizabeth Klett; I especially enjoyed her beautiful and accurate french accent. Bravo Elizabeth!
Probably an accurate account of the Americans attitude towards France prior to actually landing there. Also the snuitty upper class/wealthy ladies and gentlemen of the time. Overall a fair read.
