Unabridged Audiobook
Great narrator, but the story…. The number of times that the same capture/escape plot is used gets to be annoying! Apparently, these bad guys don’t own any guns, so they have to keep devising creative ways to kill the hero, from which he inevitably escapes. Also, counting how many times Quentin Locke gets knocked unconscious by the bad guys, it’s amazing he’s not permanently brain damaged by the end of the book! If you are looking for a lighthearted listen, this is the book for you. If you’re looking for something that more closely resembles reality, and is also more mentally engaging, I’d recommend such authors as R. Austin Freeman, Arthur Conan Doyle, John Buchan, Ernest Bramah, or Baroness Orczy.
This is an audio version of the old time movie theater serials. What suspense, what derringer-do, what imaginative bad guys, what marvelous he-men and perfect female characters. Great fun! Roger did an excellent job as always. Thanks for the thrill ride!
