The book was good, but the narration was just OK. You get a wide array of readers, and some are better than others. I know many people complain when the reader does not have an English accent, but the last reader showed why an English accent shouldn't be used if you don't normally speak with one. His accent was terrible, and his reading was so deliberate and choppy that he probably added 10 minutes onto the story. Just awful. It sounded like he was sounding out every word.

The last narrator is shockingly awful. He takes a classic story and butcher's it.

I listen to these audio books while traveling and found most of the stories held my interest and the readers did a good job except for one reader who had an unusual sharp tone and jerky method which was hard to listen to.(11).. But overall good travel entertainment which helps the distances seem shorter

Narrators were OK except for the last one. Couldn't understand what he was saying for the last few paragraphs. Nevertheless a nice collection of stories

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, never let's the reader down with his Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson adventures, this man had such a imagination to bring so many stories to the public, without repeating the same plot.

Great. I enjoyed each story except the last chapter. The reader spoke in a jerky one or two words at a time manner. I could only understand about every third word. I could not finish it.

Some of the narrators were good! Some of the narrators were very poor readers! I agree with other reviews that the last reader was especially terrible, and I also could not finish the last story.

Great stories! Most of the narrators were great, but a few were harder to listen to. Especially the last chapter!

The Sherlock Holmes stories as always are interesting. The narrators varied, but listening to the book was spoilied by two narrators in particular. The 3rd was female, who had poor pronounciation especially with the diagraph "th" and had generally a foreign accent. The last was male, who had atrocious diction and intonation, making it painful to listen.

Great engaging stories with very uneven narration!

Sherlock Holmes is fantastic. This collection is engaging and fun, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone above the age of 10 or so. I enjoyed it twice as much as I expected to. Unfortunately the narration is decidedly sub-par. I appreciate that LibriVox makes titles like this available, and I’m not sure I’d do better if I were reading, but this audiobook is plagued by poor sound and bad readers. Several of the chapters are really difficult to understand. You get what you pay for on this one.

Dr Watson is male and needs pace and tone. The stories are not to be raced though. The final solution and the naval treaty were impossible to listen to.

Great stories but terrible narration. Found i could not listen to female narrators as they tell the story from Dr Watson's memoirs. One had a very thick accent. Some of the male american narrators also were not much good either.

Enthralling collection of stories each read by different narrators, the quality of these narrators varied from excellent to subpar. The elegant style of writing really adds to the descriptive stories all told from the perception of Watson. Definitely would recommend as each story is intriguing and you will be disappointed when u reach the end of these memoirs.

Fantastic! I knew all the stories but was great to hear them again! I enjoyed all narrators say for the last. Story 11 was almost unbearable to listen to! Nothing personal but don’t quit your day job!!

Really enjoyed the stories, most of the narrators do a great job but a couple of them have strong accents that make understanding them a bit hard and one is just terrible! (you'll know who)

I appreciate all the narrators giving their time and effort. It's not easy reading out loud for long periods of time. Again, thank you.

Some narrators have an accent that is difficult to understabd. I liked most of the male narrations and some female narrators did a great job too. As gripping as the last story was the narrator made me want to stop listening at various points. It was an effort to focus on the story and stop focussing on the narrator.

Several of the narrators were difficult to listen to, but I found that upping the reading speed to 1.25 helped with that.

I stopped listening after the last narrator.

I enjoyed all the narrators except the last. His unnecessary pauses made it difficult to follow the story and more than once I considered stopping the book.
