Unabridged Audiobook
I enjoyed reading this fascinating account of Mengele's life, but found the story lacking in that it did not really describe or explain his experiments and treatments in enough detail to conclude that they were horrific. Just referring to them as horrendous does a disservice to the reader, as I was left wondering what was so bad about the very few instances generally referenced. The world at the time reacted so badly to him, that the crimes much have been much worse than what was described, or glossed over in this book. I was also disappointed by the short shrift given to the US irresponsible actions that allowed his initial escape. We know almost nothing about that from this book.
