This is a great introduction to mindfulness meditation. It teaches you how to do diaphragmatic breathing in order to have a better meditation. The practices for mindful meditation are short and varied for just about anything you do in life. They are very practical, easy to understand, and yet challenging.
it is a beautiful book that people of any interest level and/or ability can get a lot out of. Don't let the fact that its "only" about mindfulness and its straightforward writing fool you, it presents profound thoughts and profound methods and its message is straightforward because it really is the essence of what really matters - its distilled without being empty or superficial.
If you only Listen one book in your life, make it this one. Meditation is freedom from the bondage of religion, culture, politics, patriotism, nationalism and academics, all of which are only ways to condition the mind and prevent enlightenment.
There are extraordinary lengths people will go to so they might "feel better" but like the most rewarding steps, mindfulness is a key to first understanding ourselves, so that we might more easily join the larger world in its suffering and ecstacy. I was particularly moved by the meditation on interconnectedness.
I love this author and this book is no exception. Beginners will find useful information for starting a mindfulness practice.
I will keep that book to reference in my practice. I enjoyed both these books so much I have the art of communication on it's way
Great book for beginners seeking guidance on the technique of Mindfulness and also good for prodigy's who need a refresher every once in awhile.
