Unabridged Audiobook
I thought this was narrated very well. The gentleman has quite an arsenal of voices and dialects. I felt the last of the book was a little anticlimatic but overall very much enjoyed listening to this. I am not sure I would have made it through reading it .
Loved this series but the reader makes the female characters sound like a bad parody of Monty Python characters
I hated this book, this is the first book I've had to return after the first CD... I hated the accent and I can't believe it's a trilogy... I would not recommend it. Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors and I have read and listened to EVERY one of her books and this one was BAD, BAD, BAD.
Book is pretty good. I thought it was too long, it could have been condensed into a much shorter book. There is a lot going on, and frankly, some of it is just ridiculous! I know it's fantasy, but, come on!!! But, over all, I enjoyed the book and am now listening to the second in the series.
I typiclly don't enjoy vampire content novels...HOWEVER, as in most Nora Roberts novels, she takes this series to a different level...loved the series.
I really loved this book and I would never have put myself into a vampire- lovers club. It is more about the relationships between people and the importance of the strength of those relationships when facing important battles and how the principles of relationships are the same no matter the country, era or species. So it may not be for real vampire lovers but the sex was good! A definite read. I will look forward to the rest of the series and cannot wait!
Listened for 2 hours, just couldn't get into book. I like other Nora Roberts books. This one is very different from her usual writing.
Way too dark for my liking. More recent NR and JD Robb books seem to be heading that direction. I love the author's talent, just not the darker subject matter...If you're into vampires.....
I loved the entire series, wishing I had read this one first (but read it last). I love this story. It kept my interests entirely. Give me more!
This is a review of all 3 in the circle trilogy: Morrigan's Cross, Dance of the Gods, Valley of Silence. No spoilers here. As the review title indicates, I found the very first book in the series quite anticlimactic. Specifically, the final "conflict" in the book didn't rate to me as particularly epic or action -packed. However, I liked the premise and I'm a sucker for a good vampire story, so I decided to take the series in aggregate, and rate it as one piece. This makes it about 30 cds long, about the size of a Robert Jordan, or George R.R. Martin endeavor. This series is a Harlequin Romance with a vampire backdrop. It's much more about the relationships between the main characters than it is about establishing vampire lore, horror, suspense, or action. I can't recall a meaningful plot twist in the whole series, and I found everything that happened completely, totally predictable.
There are too many genres packed in this one book, as a result, they all fail. Don't bother with this. There are too many other fantasy books out there that are better written.
Nora Roberts does it again. The book is great. I did find the narrator a little hard to understand at times, since I had already read the book I was looking forward to listening to it. Looking forward to the remaining two books in the trilogy.
I really like Nora Roberts, and this book was good, but not her best. Two things I didn't like. (1) The narrator had a thick accent and it was really hard to understand him at times. I had to listen closely and I found that extra work annoying. Also, I realize the book has two more books following it, but this book had NO real climax. After 10 discs I'd have expected SOMETHING wrapping things up, but it really didn't. I felt cheated.
very very boring. Never could get into this book and couldn't listen past the second disc. First Nora Roberts book I didn't like.
I really enjoyed this book. I can't wait for the other 2. To see how it all unfolds. Nora Roberts book are always great.
The story is great. The thing that comes to my mind while listening is that it is being told by an older gentleman to little kids. There is explicit sex and it makes me wonder how the kids are reacting while he is telling very detailed descriptions of hot sex. If it wasn't for that, I would probably have given the book a 5.
I truly enjoy Nora Roberts' writing so that when I saw there was a new novel available, I selected it without reading the synopsis very closely. Unfortunately, I was a little lost with the story as I began listening to it. It appears to be unlike anything else I've read by her. I quickly caught on to the premise of the story and enjoyed listening to the rest with avid interest. I'm looking forward to the 2nd and 3rd in the trilogy to see how this story will conclude.
