Nest: A Thriller

I listened to a previous book "The Girl in the Moon" and rated it "3-stars". This one is worse. I tried to force myself to listen to the entire thing, but the constant droning on about his societal beliefs just ruined the story. There is one section where I swear the characters have a conversation about this topic for an hour. I found myself fast forwarding through it, just to get it to end. I understand he is a fan of Ayn Rand, which explains his beliefs, but really? The premise of the book was entertaining, and when he kept to the action and the story, it was good - which is why I gave him 2-stars. Unfortunately, the side trail he went down ruined the story. This book was the prequel to "The Girl in the Moon", so I had hoped he had not developed the method of story telling yet that ruined that book. Get away from the boring and silly pontificating and you have a chance at a really good series.

I'm 3 hours in and they are still in the same booth having the same conversation to verbally tell us the backstory. A quarter of the entire book, sat talking. isn't the first rule of high-school creative writing "show, don't tell." I'm interested in the premise, but my God, get moving already.

This would have been a perfect book if the talk about evil in the world was shortened and more of the story

A gripping story beautifully read.

This was a good listen, until the author intruded for an hour long exposition through a hotel room conversation that no amount of takeout food consumed by the characters could disguise. There was a recovery, but it could have been an hour shorter.

Love Love this book, from the horror, thriller, and love story. You're transported into the drama. Really great audio!!!!

Terry Good kind is an amazing storyteller. We'll worth the read! Excellent!

I found this to be one of the best audiobooks I’ve listened to. The narration was good and the plot kept me interested. Looking forward to reading more audiobooks by this author.

Interesting and mysterious setup. But after the 1st act it is mostly people explaining things to each other. Often explaining things that the reader and even the speakers already know, even sometimes rehashing info that has already been thoroughly discussed earlier in the conversation. Quit after listening to more than half. It is an interesting idea that was badly plotted.

Love how dark the book is. Went on and on a little in the middle, but excellent and chilling book.

It was interesting but too chilling and dark for my taste. Not a favourite for me. Narration was good.

Would not recommend this book. Boring. Suffered through almost all of the long drawn out story before giving up.
