Unabridged Audiobook
Narrator spoke as though their audience was stupid.
As realistic as it gets, and downright chilling. This book is better than an action thriller, albeit with the disturbing caveat that it's all too possible that this scenario takes place sometime in the near future. If you're someone given to nightmares of war and the end times, I'd say skip this book. It is, in parts, perfect nightmare fuel, especially when you see the no-win scenario humanity has managed to back itself into. The author reads the book, and she is excellent. There's a certain hollow, detached, matter of factness in the way she reads, and yet, there is also a genuineness that shows her very real concern for the human race. This is no anti-war message book, at least not in that complainy way that sounds like a petulant protestor. This is a warning and a brutally realistic walk through the truth of the matter at hand. It is intelligent, fast, hard to pause, and we'll worth anyone's time.
HOLY SH#T. The narration begins in a matter of fact tone that seems distracting but you soon realize with the seriousness of the material it becomes evident that is is the ONLY way you want to listen to what is the most unbelievably frightening information. To learn that life as we know it can be over in less time than a leisurely Sunday brunch at a restaurant is scary. This should be required reading, FOR EVERYONE!! I see one review stated the narrator "spoke as though their audience was stupid", must have already known about all this, surprised they didn't write the book first then.
Scary as hell but informative as no other book. Should be required reading for everyone on this planet. Reinforces that 'there will be no winner in a nuclear war" I loved the technical excellent of this book. With the proliferation of nuclear weapons it seems almost inevitable that we, our children or our grandchildred will experience Armageddon.
Awesome book, awesome job!!!!! Thank you Annie for all you do!!!!
Page Turner.
Pretty decent book. It was a bit drawn out for the amount of information author provided, in other words - some of it was repetitive. Narrator also seemed a bit off at times but maybe it's just me. Buy it if You are really interested in this subject otherwise couple of wiki articles will cover most of this for general overview. I gave it 4/5 stars.
