Summary
Civil Disobedience (Resistance to Civil Government) is an essay by American transcendentalist Henry David Thoreau that was first published in 1849. In it, Thoreau argues that individuals should not permit governments to overrule or atrophy their consciences, and that they have a duty to avoid allowing such acquiescence to enable the government to make them the agents of injustice. Thoreau was motivated in part by his disgust with slavery and the Mexican-American War. (Summary by Wikipedia)

A work that I can say truly enlightened me in the principles of non-conformity and individual liberty. Had such a profound impact on me I had to revisit it again. The reader has such a perfect voice for this work as well.

not a fan of Thoreau

Thought provoking and poses important questions. As with any older work, it’s definitely written in a way that might make it harder for some to be able to follow along easily. The narrator was alright.

Perfect to listen to for the times. Should allow greater minds to work towards a better future

I wasn't exactly overwhelmed by this book. I suppose it is a great piece of literature, but it wasn't my "cup of tea". However, the reader was excellent. It was as if Thoreau himself were speaking.
